Several interconnected, Christmas-themed horror tales come together to create a great holiday horror movie. All the stories are entertaining, but none of the are super scary. As for the individual segments, we figured we’d rank them for Christmas this year! These stories flit back and forth between each other (I can't help but feel it might have worked better to tell each story in full) and are held together by our "narrator", the local DJ played by William Shatner. These stories intertwine and take place in the fictional town of Bailey Downs. During their visit, Edda tells them about the mythological creature Krampus (Rob Archer), which frightens Caprice – especially after Duncan purposely destroys a Krampus figurine in an attempt to irritate Edda's caretaker, Gerhardt (Julian Richings). Next we track three investigative teens looking for answers to a savage double homicide that went down in their own school hallways a year prior. And when he returns to mommy’s loving arms, well, he’s not quite the same. That said, the two stories that do work, especially when crashing into each other to fuel a frenzied and requisitely gory finale (Krampus vs. Santa), is where I think the film is at its entertaining best.
One family accidently brings home a changeling instead of their child, while another runs from Krampus in the woods.
Seeking refuge in a ramshackle church, Krampus soon descends on the family with the grisliest of intent. It was a good film. Brad Miska from Bloody Disgusting gave the film a positive review, writing, "While A Christmas Horror Story doesn’t have the qualities of a big theatrical release, like Trick ‘r Treat, it’s glossy enough to bring joy to those however they end up seeing it. Shit gets hectic, particularly when the this storyline eventually bleeds into the Santa Claus opener, propelling a brutally barbarous showdown that pits light vs. dark - Santa vs. Krampus - in a sick viscera dripping finale.

A Christmas Horror Story is a 2015 anthology horror film directed by Grant Harvey, Steven Hoban, and Brett Sullivan. The three of them end up getting locked in the basement. Outside of a cool idea (done way better in the 1980 flick THE CHANGELING mind you) ... the sum here isn't close to being tantamount to an exceptional Bob Clark CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY. Meanwhile at the North Pole, Santa is fending off zombie elves. I would prefer to arrange by genre, episode, number in franchise so that I could group my movies together instead of having a hodge podge to sort through!

The second story is a little better and creepier; a family goes into a forest to find the perfect Christmas tree. We'll get to how the curse is unleashed in a second, but know, this is probably the most entertaining of the four shorts. Outside of a cool idea (done way better in the 1980 flick THE CHANGELING mind you) and a few harrowing moments or two, this ultimately ends up being one of the weaker links in the anthological chain. The short is both suspenseful and genuinely creepy, and the frequent breakaways to other stories only add to that level of suspense. Taglines The police arrive and manage to gun him down just as he goes to kill "Krampus", revealed to be the mall's manager, Mr. Taylor. The ending, in particular, makes this one a real treat. REVIEW: Apparently it's never too early in the year to shop around for a gory gift of yuletide terror, and as adduction, we can now point to the technically varnished by overall average anthological outing A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY, opening in select theaters October 2nd. Personally speaking, it was also one of my favorite horror films of 2015. It all leads up to a twist you'll never see coming and an epic battle featuring Santa vs. Krampus. Nick Groff Investigates... October Horror Movie Madness! Changeling segment (8)- Slow-paced, but effectively creepy and tense.
