It’s kind of a Homeward Bound story that we tell with the two of them. How much do you think the Smith family has changed since fans first met them on American Dad in 2005? There’s this appealing idea of what it would look like if the Smith family gets captured and sent back to Roger’s planet and Roger has to rescue them. We will have had eight seasons on Fox, and we're about to start our eighth season on TBS.
As horrible as this pandemic is, the silver lining is that people just want more animation and we’ve been able to main production. During Roger’s absence there’s a good deal of focus on Rogu. Luckily we have a big audience between American Dad airing on TBS, and Adult Swim, and Hulu. I feel like Stan has become a bit more open. But as he is leaving, he is crushed by Hayley in a truck. I was not expecting that version of that character to come out of Pine and then when it did I was immediately like, “Oh yeah, let’s do that!”. In “100 AD” we killed 100 people. It’s a minor complaint, but one that really just speaks to the strength of “300’s” final act. That's a crazy number and not that far away from the 400 number. That “Rabbit Ears” episode from the past few seasons is definitely one of your weirdest and best. We got a second season." Just the fact that we’ve been able to keep going is the hallmark of what I’m most proud over. It’s been exciting to witness the tone of the series get a little weirder in more recent seasons. Tell Me Your Secrets centers on a trio of characters each with a mysterious and troubling past, including Emma, a young woman who once looked into the eyes of a dangerous killer, John, a former serial predator desperate to find redemption and Mary, a grieving mother obsessed with finding her missing daughter. I know that we’ve had the episode with the spaceship and Roger’s people were there, but it’s not quite the same. (voice). This episode marks the 300th of the series by production order, but is only the 299th by broadcast order. It's a challenge, but I'm also really grateful to be able to continue to do it, because I know so many people in this business have had to stop work, and not be able to do anything that they want to do. But 300 episodes, it's a blessing. I’m trying to think of the last time that we did actual time travel—Actually, we have one coming up in the coming season where Stan and Francine do go back to the past. MATT WEITZMAN: It had been a while for it and it felt like it had deserved some kind of connection to tie in with the Smith family. The show used to be more political, but now it's become more family-oriented. It’s been a long time coming and I hope that the fans enjoy it as much the writers and I enjoyed coming up with it. This material isn’t just monumental, but it’s also entertaining to see how everyone’s lives have changed in this twenty-year span, whether it’s Stan’s deadbeat and rundown nature or the fully-grown, yet fragile, look at Steve. I've given up guessing whether or not this show continues. Every year, I'm ready for them to cancel us.

After 300 episodes is there anything that you’ve wanted to do, but were unable to for whatever reason, whether it’s because you were told no, or didn’t think it was a good enough idea, or whatever? We mostly stuck to the story that we broke early on. We're about to start our 16th season at the end of the month. You don't develop a show and think, "Oh, it's going to go 300 [episodes].".
